Jack Art Gallery announces it's new art exhibit... "nine nine nine." This event, opening September 5th will host an artist reception on Wednesday, September 9 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. Come out to the opening and meet the artists, sip some wine and gander at a body of vibrant abstract paintings by John Paul, Zachary Brown, Phillip Hua, Benny Cokemen, and Scott Eakin. The event is free and open to the public. The works will be on display through October 2, 2009. "Through The Lens" Photo Show

Jack Art Gallery is seeking local photographers for it's annual photo show being held in October, 2009. We are looking for imagery that is abstract, unique and eye catching. Photographs that capture vibrant, alternative looks at life, through the lens. We are not seeking portrait, simple landscape or still life photography work. All submissions are due by September 11, 2009. To submit your application, click here. Our goal is to have 10 photographers each submitting 14 works.

Jack Opens At the Green Market

Due to overwhelming popularity with our recent art opening, Jack Art Gallery will be opening up from 9:00 AM to 12: 00 PM on Saturday, August 15 and August 22 to participate in the Studioplex Green Market. Jack Art Gallery will serve mimosas at both openings. Stop by and enjoy some amazing encaustic art by 13 local and national artists, sip some bubbles, and enjoy the freshness of the Green Market, too.

Join Jack Art Gallery for an exciting event featuring more than 75 pieces of original encaustic art on August 12, 2009.

What is encaustic art you ask? Encaustic art is made by melting wax and using it as a pigment medium. The rich, vibrant, textural result can be easily manipulated with an assortment of tools and be blended with a variety of other media. While many might associate encaustic art with melting crayons as a child, the art form is actually thousands of years old.

Jack Art Gallery has the pleasure of featuring a dozen new works by teacher, author and Atlanta artist, Jason McGrady along with original works by 12 other local and national encaustic artists, including Jhina Alvarado, Lynn Bland, Barbara Brenner, Rae Broyles, Glenda Chamblerlain, Melissa Hronkin, Judie Jacobs, Allison Miller, Edie Morton, Margo Mullen, Penny Treese, and Melody Trivisone.

The show runs from August 08 to September 04, 2009, and the big event... the artists opening reception, will be on August 12, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Come by the gallery that night to meet the artists, sip some wine and emerse yourself in encaustic art. Each of the pieces retail for under $500.

In addition to all the excitement around the art that night, August 12, Jack Art Gallery and owners Lisa and John McNamara have the pleasure of hosting a "meet & greet" for State Senator Kasim Reed, Candidate for Atlanta Mayor.

A Jack is Born

Jack Art Gallery owners, Lisa and John McNamara welcomed the newest member of their family into the world this week. John Paul McNamara, III, aka Jack (for whom the gallery was named) was born on July 6, 2009. Lisa and John are elated beyond words and hope that young Jack grows up to appreciate art as much as they do. I mean really, who would not be excited to have an art gallery named after them?

"Summer Abstractions"

Join Jack Art Gallery on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 for Second Wednesdays, the Studioplex Art Stroll. We will be showcasing new art from four emerging abstract artists: John Paul, Zoe Martell, Phillip Hua and Hang Nguyen. The opening is from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Come by Jack Art Gallery, sip on some wine, mingle with artists and art lovers, and enjoy great, affordable abstract art by emerging artists. "Summer Abstractions" is free and open to the public Thursday - Saturday, 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and by appointment. The show runs through early August.
